I was having trouble with our newer Litter-Robot III after I cleaned it and put it back together a few weeks ago. The yellow light was flashing and the globe wouldn’t complete it’s rotation. It’s now working like a charm =)
Here’s the email that LR sent me that I reference in this video:
To perform a hard reset, please follow the steps below:
The globe must be at the Home position with the solid blue light on. With the unit powered ON, unplug the power supply from the base and wait 10 seconds. Plug the unit back in, allow it to complete the start-up cycle, and follow the steps below.
Press and hold Cycle button for 5 seconds. Both blue AND yellow lights are now on.
Press and hold Cycle button for 5 seconds. Yellow light turns off, blue light remains lit.
Activate the cat sensor by pressing on the globe just above the entrance in a forward and down motion. The red light should come on now.
Allow the unit to complete the timing, cycle, and return to home position. At this time, the unit will have reset itself.
If you’ve completed these troubleshooting steps and your unit is still having trouble, you can always contact Litter-Robot customer support.

Hey there. The video didn’t help me. Cause I have a constant blue light flashing. When I press reset it flashes constant yellow then back to blue flashing. Nothing is working. Cleaned . Unplugged. My app is saying my robot is off.
We got our LRIII about a week ago. Today, the yellow light was flashing mid-cycle (for no apparent reason), and these steps didn’t help. However, pressing and holding the Reset button for 6 seconds got the device to spin back to its home setting. I couldn’t find that in the user guide or FAQ, but it’s intuitive and did the trick.

Many thanks for the video. The blinking yellow light was getting old, even after taking the unit apart, cleaning and reassy. Very much appreciated! Jim and Lisa.

A slowly flashing yellow light may also mean that the bonnet is removed or disconnected. Check that the bonnet tabs at the side and rear are secured to the base. The unit will resume cycling 5 seconds after the bonnet is replaced. Last but not least, check for excess weight, such as too much litter or waste.
Press and Release: Pressing the Cycle Button starts the Litter-Robot cleaning cycle. In order to pause the cycle, press any button on the Control Panel during the Clean Cycle. Press Cycle once again to resume the cleaning cycle.
If the timing light is flashing red or you are receiving a "Cat sensor fault" notification in the Whisker app, this indicates the cat sensor has been continuously activated for 30 minutes or more, either by a cat that won't leave the globe or by too much weight in the unit.
Most cars have at least two oxygen sensors located throughout the exhaust system; at least one in front of the catalytic converter and one or more downstream from the catalytic converter. The “pre-cat sensor” regulates fuel supply, while the downstream sensor measures the efficiency of the catalytic converter.
The pinch sensor is located in the base. Look at the top of the base, and locate the plastic pinch bar on the left side of the waste port opening. Press the bar inward several times to dislodge any built-up litter or debris. Rotate the base so the waste port opening is facing up.
Short press the Reset button, then short press the Cycle button to run a Clean cycle. After the test cycle, Litter-Robot should be in the Home position displaying a blue light bar.
To reconnect your unit, re-enable the connection by pressing the Connect button once to turn the WIFI off, indicated by a white Connect LED.Then, press the Connect button a 2nd time to reestablish the connection. The Connect LED will begin flashing blue again but should change to solid blue after a few seconds.
