As a shopping editor, I'm constantly introduced to the latest and greatest workout clothes—but so often, they aren’t size-inclusive. Finding cute and comfortable workout gear can be tricky for anyone, but as a plus-size person, I consistently get super frustrated by the lack of options. When I find something stylish that fits my needs, it doesn't come in anything that would fit me.
To make matters worse, when brands do offer extended sizes, they’re hardly ever available in stores—so I'm forced to buy online and hope and pray that it fits when it arrives. That sometimes means that my new sports bra is so hard to put on, I worry I'll be trapped in it forever—or my new leggings are so tight, they could be compression shapewear.
Occasionally, though, I get lucky and find well-fitting, high-quality, durable, and stylish workout pieces. (Bonus points when they're colorful, so I'm not stuck in all black for my hiking adventures.)
Well, friends, my constant struggle and determination to find size-inclusive workout gear is now your gain. Below, shop my personal favorite finds and others with rave reviews that I’m eyeing.
Best Plus-Size Workout Clothes
What to Consider
Sizing
If you've shopped for plus sizes before, you know that sizing isn't always uniform across brands—sometimes not even within the same brand. Always check measurements before making a purchase to ensure you're getting the size you need. I've learned that many XXL sizes aren't true plus sizes—and often, an XXL and a 2X can be wildly different shapes.
Price
How much you want to spend on workout clothes depends on how often you anticipate wearing them. Below, I've included plus-size workout pieces across a range of prices (from $12 to $90)—but keep in mind that the greater the investment, the longer you'll likely be able to wear it. So while there are affordable size-inclusive options from Amazon, Walmart, or Old Navy, for example, you might only get a few solid wears out of them.
Material
When it comes to being active, fabric type is important. It needs to be stretchy, so you can have full mobility—and you'll also want to look for moisture-wicking materials. Fabrics like nylon or elastane tend to keep sweat at bay.
How We Chose
I included pieces that I've personally tested and loved, along with items that have excellent user reviews that I've added to my wish list. I also looked for pieces from editor-trusted athleisure brands that offer a wide range of sizes.
I bought these $12 leggings in a pinch on vacation a few years ago, and they've become a pair I wear frequently for hiking because the high-waisted tops do not roll down. Made from a soft cotton fabric, they're a great bargain—but I'd recommend the darker colors, as the lighter ones tend to be a bit see-through.

Girlfriend Collective is your best bet for true inclusive sizing—and even better, the brand is committed to sustainability, making fabrics out of recycled plastics. It has a wide variety of athletic wear, including these layered shorts, which feature a fitted liner to prevent chafing (IYKYK) and a traditional running short over the top.

High-Quality Fabric
Yitty Ultralift Bootysculpt Legging 7/8
What I like about Yitty is fabric quality, the way sizes are listed from largest to smallest, and how these leggings support and accentuate each and every curve. The brand is always introducing new styles and colors, so you'll never run out of options. Personally, I don't love the membership aspect, but you can buy items separately without signing up—it can just be a bit more involved and expensive. But then again, you're paying for durability.

While Old Navy doesn't carry a ton of plus-sizes in stores, you can have pieces delivered to the store for free—so you can try them on and return then and there, if needed. This long-sleeve top will work as a layering piece during the winter months, with thumbhole cuffs to keep your sleeves in place (and your hands a little toasty).

This tank drapes so nicely, you won't have to worry about the fabric sticking to your skin. It's also a little bit longer than other tank options and fits nicely across the hips. Oh, and that $18 price? That's for two tanks.

Torrid has long been one of the only reliable plus-size brands available, and the quality of these leggings holds up against new options on the market. They're made to last with a soft performance knit fabric that's really stretchy, and there's also a supportive matching criss-cross sports bra.

This unitard is made from Adanola's signature stretch fabric, so you can crush your squats without worrying about rips. And there's no need to be concerned about your shirt riding up when you lift your arms up into a mountain pose during your yoga sesh. Plus, the light compression means you can wear this racerback style without a sports bra.
